The project is inspired by the sun, as a symbol of strength and energy, and its cyclical nature in our lives.
A performance of movement and energy that envisages different ways of reading it, but that fundamentally asks the audience to participate on a sensorial level, trying to bring the relationship between the audience and the performance back to a primordial level and to a simple re-definition of what dance is. This work wishes to develop a language and a physical mechanism made of repetition, accumulation and variations, creating a dance that is written but always unexpected.
The score of ‘Notes for the Sun’ stems from an attempt to apply the concept of ever-growing solar vibration/pulsation to the sound material and maintain a strong relationship with the bodies of the dancers, borrowing and amplifying their rhythms and counter-times. The result is a vertiginous musical structure, consisting of cycles with continuously progressing speed and intensity interspersed with moments of sudden suspension.
