Autunno Danza XXVIII Edition

The 28 edition of the Autunno Danza Festival have given rise to a new and indispensable metamorphosis aimed at creating support, prospects and impetus for the talents that have emerged in Sardinia but that until now had only been given the opportunity to realise their creativity elsewhere.

Starting from its location on the territory, no longer centred only on the capital but scattered over multiple presences, from the TEN Teatro Eliseo in Nuoro to Sa Manifattura in Cagliari, Fuorimargine has initiated a dialogue with the communities to create participatory art proposals and weave the fabric of cultural processes removed from the binarism between an identity product, linked to the past, and presumed modernity modelled on commercial, hedonistic criteria and with an exclusive entertainment function.

From the depth of an ancient and deep-rooted heritage, from the specificity of a bodily posture that is expressed in the rigid modalities of the traditional ballu tundu – still practised by young people in the squares during village festivals – an unprecedented approach can arise, capable of overcoming contraries and generating new aesthetics.

As Antonio Gramsci wrote in his letter to his sister Teresina on 26 March 1927, starting from one’s own language ‘it is necessary to develop spontaneously in the cultural environment in which one was born: this will not be a hindrance for the future, far from it.
