Fuorimargine is looking for women of all ages, with musical aptitude, for a 5-day workshop and 2 performances of the work Dies Irae curated by choreographer Gloria Dorliguzzo.
During the workshop we will experiment with the sounds of objects that take on the function of musical instruments such as anvils, hammers, metal plates and the ground itself.
The workshop will last from 1 to 5 April, approximately from 2 to 7 p.m., and will be led by choreographer Gloria Dorliguzzo with Maestro Gianluca Feccia, who will convey the choreography and sound score. The workshop is free of charge.
The Dies Irae will be a “performance concert”, but first and foremost an encounter with the disruptive music of Galina Ustvolskaya, a contemporary Russian composer nicknamed “Woman with a Hammer”, a pupil of Shostakovich, whose compositional research tends towards a strong reduction of material towards an ideal of drastic essentiality.
