Within the framework of the SOTTOBOSCO project, the artist and choreographer Chiara Bersani, Lemmo, musician and sound researcher, Elena Sgarbossa, dancer and choreographer, and Simone Chiacchiararelli, Chiara Bersani’s assistant, lead a workshop aimed at persons with motor disabilities of different age groups.
Conceived as an integral part of the performance SOTTOBOSCO, the workshop follows Chiara Bersani’s desire to answer, together with the participants, the question: what is the relationship of a body with disabilities with ‘nature’? What space can we imagine and thus create thanks to the collective presence of our bodies? What new and accessible undergrowth can be built by our gestures? What mysterious and silent language allows us to communicate, listen and understand each other in this space?
Some questions that have driven Sottobosco’s research and guide the exploration of shared space are:
What actions does a body that cannot run in space perform? What leads a body that struggles to move, to do so? People with reduced mobility, if they find themselves in a space that makes their movement even more complex, how do they explode?
The eyes while running in space, are they dancing? The fingers as they button their jacket? The hands as they tie their shoes?
Each workshop day includes 3 hours of work, during which the team shares research, reflections and practices developed during the new work.
Participants are invited to explore with Chiara, Lemmo and Elena, the relationship between movement, sound and space, starting from the possibilities and will of each body.
For those who wish, there is the possibility of crossing the space of the performance Sottobosco on 20 September during the last 5/10 minutes.
